Science Week

This morning we had to design a carrier to take  2 ping pong balls down a zip wire. We could use straws, sellotape, paper, paper plates, cardboard and yogurt pots. We tried using string and dental floss for our zip wire. We found out that the carrier went faster if we put Lego or stones in with the ping pong balls to make it heavier.

We also experimented with ice cubes to  find out how quickly we could melt them. We wrapped some in felt, paper, bubble wrap, tin foil  and a glove, others in cold water, on a heater and in a plastic bag and some in our hands. We discovered that the ones in our hands melted the quickest and in the felt took the longest to melt. We then all got an ice cube in our hands and  had a race to see who could  melt it first!
