Homework Dec 2

Endangered Animal Project

We loved sharing our amazing homework projects today with a walk about talk about sharing activities. We have learnt a lot of fun facts about these endangered animals. What an amazing amount if work and effort has gone into each and every projects! Well done Primary 4b!

We look forward to hearing the rest of the PowerPoint presentations next week.

Reading Trios

In our reading trios we were investigating the cause and effect of events in Charlottes’s web.

Book to Movie Writing Task

While we were talking about our favourite books during Book Week Scotland, we wondered what it would be like to persuade a film studio to make a movie of one of them.  We worked in teams to choose a book and create our pitches.  We even decided which actors we would like to play the main roles (although sometimes those actors were us!)

Here are two of our pitches.

Reading detectives

We

We enjoyed working in trios to investigate tricky words in our class novel Charlotte’s web. One member was the reader, one member was the researcher and one member was the detective. We also had to summarise the key points from the chapter. #Bookweekscotland

Homework for Week Beginning 18th November

For the next two weeks all three Primary 4 classes are being asked to complete a research task based on our class topic – Endangered Animals.  Click the links below to see the task and print some pages that the children might find useful as they organise their research.

Since the children will be busy doing all their research we are not issuing additional spelling or maths homework during this period.  (The BFGs will still get a new reading book home though.) If, however, anybody would like to keep sharpening those skills, Spelling City and Sumdog are always a good option!  For children who would like an extra multiplication tables challenge, why not play a few games from the Hit The Button website?

Have fun!

Book Week Scotland

To celebrate Book Week Scotland, we are inviting the children to tweet a photo (using the hashtags #extremereadingkps #bookweekscotland  #bwskps) of themselves doing some Extreme Reading  i.e. reading in strange and unusual places.  We look forward to seeing what they come up with!  This is an optional task, so please don’t worry if life gets too hectic to fit it in.  Just settle down and enjoy sharing a good book instead. (We’d enjoy seeing photos of that too!)

To further encourage the enjoyment of reading,  Reading Passports are coming home today to help children take part in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge.  The children can share these over the next few weeks.  Who knows?  We may all find new books that we love!

Anti-bullying week

We were celebrating being unique by wearing odd socks for anti-bullying week. Primary 7 ran a Workshop teaching us all about bullying and we took part in a role play activity. It was very informative and helpful. We also shared our fabulous Anti-bullying posters!
