Dragon Hunt

Today we read the book The Dragon Machine, we look at the figurative language used.

In pairs, we went on a dragon hunt! We had to find the dragons hiding in the school and describe where they are ( using propositions) and describing what they looked like (using adjectives, alliteration, similes and metaphors ).

We will be using our notes to write short descriptions in grammar tomorrow.

Good dragon finding class!

Reading Trios

In our reading trios we were investigating the cause and effect of events in Charlottes’s web.

Halloween Healthy Treats

Today we had a real treat (not a trick)! The dinner ladies helped us to make Healthy fruit snacks which were in the shape of witches.  We used an apple for the face, grapes for the hat and eyes, strawberries for the nose and an orange segment for the mouth. We also had the chance to make fruit kebabs, which we enjoyed at snack time.   A big thank you to the dinner ladies, who helped organise and prepare for this fun activity.

Photos to follow.

Science garden colour wheel

We were investigating colours in the Science Garden! We were exploring colours in the natural environment. We found red, yellow and green leaves. Also blue, violet, purple, pink, white and orange petals and flowers. We also found small and big brown and green pears. We collected all of these together.

When we got back to class we placed our natural resources onto our colour wheel. Take a look!

It was so much fun! Zayn

Our Maths Games

Primary 4b created their own maths games for homework.  Mrs Miller was very impressed with the imaginative  and creative games which the children designed and made.  The children also did a super job at explaining the rules of their game. Well done!! We loved sharing and playing our games with the class.

Life-cycle of a Spider

As part of our Charlotte’s Web topic, we have been learning about the life-cycle of a spider.

In groups, we created our own life-cycles choosing a variety of materials.

Active Spelling

We love choosing active spelling strategies to help us learn our spelling words.

We have had lots of fun creating our zig zag books to encourage primary 1 classes to read for pleasure.  We have also been creating personalised bookmarks for primary 1 as part of our Enterprise topic to promote reading for pleasure.

Blue Peter Badge Winner

One of our talented pupils Lauren received a Blue Peter badge for all her hard work. She wrote a story called “Maths Man and Maths Girl”. She also raised £200 for British Heart Foundation by completing a 5K cycle.

Well done Lauren! We are so proud of you!!!!!!
