This week in Primary 3 we have been learning all about rounding in maths. We have focused on rounding to the nearest 10. Today we moved on to rounding in calculations! This was challenging but we all enjoyed it very much. Here are some of the things we had to learn before we could round in calculations.
- “We had to learn to count in 10’s so we could round to the nearest 10” – Kyle
- “ If the number is 4 or less you must round it down, and if it’s 5 or more you must round it up” – Ava
We also played lots of maths game this week to help us with our learning and understanding of rounding. Maybe you can try some at home. Here are some of the games we played this week.
- “My favourite game was on the computer when a number is given and you need to guess the nearest 10” – Marysia
- “I really enjoyed playing battle of the giants. This is when we all choose a partner in our group and the first one to answer the question wins. We were adding tens in this game” – Lily D
- “The game I enjoyed the most was to round up or down. If the units number is 5 or more you stretch your arms up and if it is 4 or less you roll yourself down into a ball”. – Sydney
Thank you for reading our blog. We look forward to sharing our learning with you again next week!
