Leading the learning.

Everyone has the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills in their own subject of interest with their peers and we have had several brilliant ‘leading the learning’ lessons led by pupils in the class.

Daniel has a keen interest and knowledge of aviation and aeroplanes, which he wanted to share with everyone. We had a super experience and learned so much about the first aircraft to take flight. There was even time to build, name and practise flying our own gliders.

Thank you for leading the learning Daniel!

Our Global Goals Enterprise Pitch.

Having spent a lot of time, creativity and brilliant collaborative team work in designing, developing and constructing our prototype models. We have now come to the point where we had to ‘pitch’ our concept/design solution to effectively meet the needs of others through the aims of the Global Goals. These were amazing! and everyone really believed in their product when trying to ‘sell’ it to their audience.

Our new favourite sport!

In P6 we have discovered a fast-paced sport called Handball that follows similar rules to Basketball and Netball. It requires a high level of fitness, teamwork and mental focus to win and has inspired a new competitive spirit during P.E. this term.

Diversity Week.

We had an amazing time in P6C researching how Eid is celebrated by muslims around the world. This information was then used to create an information posters that we shared at our special assembly. As well as this, we loved making Eid shortbread biscuits and having Henna designs drawn on our hands. Take a look at all of the fun learning activities we took part in.

Researching and making our collaborative posters.

We used Kapla pieces to make tessellating and symmetrical patterns based on our learning of Islamic art.

Making shortbread biscuits with a choice of Eid-themed toppings was a lot of fun and hard work following the recipe correctly, measuring ingredients and making sure we used and cleaned our cooking tools and utensils properly too.

Everyone was thrilled to have their own unique henna design painted onto their hands!

Scots Poetry Drama.

We had so much fun improvising our paired performances of ‘A Dug! A Dug!’ by Bill Keys this week, as part of our drama through Language learning. Having previously learned some Scots vocabulary, we then had to think about interpreting the poem in an energetic and entertaining way for our audiences.

Science Lab – Body Works Programme.

We have been really excited to begin our learning collaboration with the Glasgow Science Centre by participating in their Learning Lab: Body Works Programme this term. During this we will actively explore different systems in the human body. Here we are beginning our research on the Digestive System.

What do we know about time?

We have been reminding ourselves of all the knowledge and understanding we have of the maths concept of time. What better way to do this than to share it with the rest of the school by using our outside playground environment to draw, read and write analogue, digital and 24 hour duration word problems to solve.

S.T.E.M Marble Run Challenge.

This year will be full of active S.T.E.M-based enquiry learning. What better way to begin by challenging ourselves to design and build our own marble runs. We had lots of fun using our mathematical problem-solving skills and developing our ability to engineer structures by working in collaborative groups and partnerships to achieve our goals.
