Week Beginning 13/11/23

IDL- We have been creating presentations about Scotland Vs Australia. This week we went to other P6 classes to present our learning. We also watched others present their learning. Even though it was nerve wracking I was proud of my groups efforts.

This week was Book Week Scotland and P1 were focussing on the book Supertato. On Tuesday we worked with our buddies and decorated some potatoes to make different characters. My buddy made a sparkly dinosaur and I made an owl.

Numeracy- In Numeracy we took part in a virgin money live lesson and we learned about how to create a business and grow our money.

Week Beginning 06/11/23

Literacy 

In Literacy we started looking at scripts. We discussed the features of a script and then did some acting. It was so fun when my group performed and also fun watching others act. – MM

In reading we were reading non fiction books. I was reading a book all about Roman Ancient Greeks. -KS

 

Maths 

We started learning how to find equivalent fractions. I have enjoyed this challenge because I remember seeing P6 learn this last year. -RA

PE 

Over at Eastwood we played netball games, I played the position of goal attack. – ED

In hockey we were doing passing drills, I feel like I’m getting better at hockey each week. -AR

HWB

In health and wellbeing we were debating. We had to debate the topic of elderly people using tablets and iPads. It was tricky to think of arguments for and against.  -CA

 

IDL

We have been continuing to work on our Australian presentations which we will be showing to the other P6 classes next week. -MM

Week Beginning 30.10.23

PE- This week in PE we went back over to Eastwood. This week we had a choice to pick an activity that we wanted to focus on. I choose football and it was fun to be taught by the play leaders. -LG

I choose hockey and we focussed on dribbling.- MA

In Netball we played a game called Cave Man, it involved the goal keepers dodging the ball. I loved it and can’t wait to play again next week. -FR

Literacy- We have now finished The Jungle Book and have started our new books. We are reading non-fiction books and they are really interesting.

We also did some active spelling to help us learn our tricky spelling rules.

IDL- We are coming to the end of our Australia Vs Scotland topic and we are now creating group presentations to share our learning with other classes.

 

Week Beginning 09.10.23

P.E- This week we went back over to Eastwood.  We were so glad that it wasn’t raining this week and we managed to stay dry. Our group did athletics and we did hurdles and ladders which was fun.

This week we created a jungle book scene inside of a shoe box. My group created the scene with Shere Khan in it.

Literacy- In literacy this week e continued to write and illustrate our own jungle book.  We are looking forward to reading them to our buddies this afternoon.

Our class were excited to receive the trophy for Miss Ralston’s class of the week!


Week Beginning 02/10/2023

This week for PE we went over to Eastwood and got split into 2 groups. My group were focussing on rugby and we played some games. My favourite game was dodge the catcher. -Chloe

In IDL we were learning about Scottish culture. I learned that Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone. -Miraya

In Literacy we started creating our own books that we will read to our buddy next week. We printed our writing off and created a front cover and blurb. -Maira

This week was Maths Week Scotland, one of the tasks we completed was Curves of Pursuit. We drew a square and measured 1cm to the left and continued the steps to make a pattern The final results looked really cool. -Millie

Week Beginning 25.09.23

This week our learning looked a little bit different as we were at home.

“For our Health and Wellbeing task on Wednesday I made a banana and strawberry smoothie and it was delicious. The task was all about healthy snacks.”

“I did one of the science experiments. I got a cup full of water and salt and when I put an egg in the cup it started to float.”

“I also carried out a science experiment with my friend, we used some ingredients to make a volcano and it was really messy. It bubbled for 7 minutes.”

“I enjoyed the tasks that we were to complete at home, however I really missed my friends and I am happy to be back in school.”

 

Week Beginning 04.09.23

P.E- “On Tuesday we developed our passing skills in basketball and then played a match”

 

Maths Week- “This week it was maths week and we have been completing a STEM challenge where we made marble run out of tape, cardboard, straws and paper”

“Our team did 2 different courses with different obstacles.”

Spanish- “Miss Ralston has been teaching us the main Spanish phrases. My favourite phrase is buenos dias which means good morning”.

Writing- “In writing we wrote about the characters in our story.”

Week Beginning 28th August

We have had another fun and busy week in P6a.

Maths- “This week in maths we did some revision of subtracting and adding 4 digit numbers. There were challenge questions which made our brains think”.

Literacy- “In Literacy we continued to read the Jungle book and we even made some characters out of clay.  My favourite character is Mowgli and I will be writing about him in my imaginative writing next week”.

P.E- “In the Muga we have been developing our fitness and played rounders which I really enjoyed it”.

“This week we created our class charter and we added pictures of our faces onto it. We hope you like it”.

 

Week Beginning 21st August

We have had a busy but enjoyable first full week back in Primary 6!

P.E

In PE this week, we all shared games that we can play with our buddies. I played secret tig with my buddy and she really enjoyed it. Chloe

We also played duck duck goose, bear and the honey pot and octopus tig. We played Bear and the honey pot with my buddy and she really enjoyed it. Millie

Maths

We completed a problem solving task about ice cream flavours. We managed to come up with 16 different combinations. Ruairidh

We also played a mental maths game called penalty shoot out which was so fun. Freya

Literacy 

In Literacy we started reading the Jungle Book as our class novel. I enjoyed listening to the audio book of it and think that it is going to be a good book to read. Miraya

We have created our VCOP wall and wrote different vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation onto kites and bows. Eva

 

P6A also did a fabulous job at being prefects today!

First Week Back!!

Welcome to the P6a Blog!

We have had a fabulous first week back settling into our new classroom and getting to know our teacher. We are really looking forward to our learning journey in Primary 6 and will be keeping you all updated along the way.
