Week beginning 25th April 2022

‘Welcome back to P6a’s exciting blog!’ Ben

‘Over the course of this week we have been trying to bring in shoeboxes for a diorama lesson in Topic (which will be next week) stay tuned next week to see these!’ Molly

‘Today in P.E. we were working on racket and ball skills and I got Star Player alongside Sam.’ Leaah

‘There was also a game called Jail Break and we had to try and hit the shuttlecock over the net. If anyone caught it you joined jail and they became free. I won the game!’ Eleanor

‘I overall enjoyed P.E. today!’ Harry

‘This week we have learned block printing. I finished mine today, some will finish next week. I enjoyed this.’ Lauren

‘My foam board snapped but it still made a perfect picture.’ Warren

‘In assembly this week the JRSOs got to talk to the school as they were the first committee selected. We talked about past events and events we would like to hold.’ Bruce

‘In art with Mrs Hutchison we were drawing birds and this was quite fun. We also drew patterns.’ Euan

‘On Wednesday, I had a Pupil Council meeting. We talked about upcoming events and I spoke to the class about it. I’m really excited for these events!’ Jess

‘In writing we were trying to include things we have learned so far. We wrote an imaginative piece, most of them were inspired by pictures on the board. My story was called Around the World in Twelve Hours.’ James

‘My story was about someone on a ship going to find an island. I enjoyed it!’ Hollie

‘I enjoyed the writing lesson too!’ Sam

‘In outdoor learning we were doing litter picking, bark and leaf rubbing and clearing out flower beds. I really enjoyed this.’ Jess

‘I enjoyed the leaf rubbing and I’m excited to start planting in the garden.’ Cara

‘In topic we were talking about plastic pollution and how different plastics can ruin our ocean and the world. We made notes and using these created posters about this. Mrs Hobson said the best 3 will win a smelly sticker and a marble for their group!’ Ayyan

‘This week was really fun and educational! Read our blog next time to find out more!’ Bella

Week beginning 18th April 2022

‘Welcome back to the P6a blog, this week we had lots of fun!’ Beth

‘Today was Earth Day, so the whole school (including teachers) came dressed in green or blue or something to do with animals/conservation.’ Bella

‘Earth Day was created in the 1960s when an oil spill happened in America and it pushed people to think more about the environment. They created a day to celebrate our world.’ Molly

‘In outdoor learning we used compasses to find North, South, East and West. Then blindfolded our partners, gave them directions. When we asked, where are you? They had to guess their location.’ Harry

‘We did this as it is part of our John Muir award, as we have to learn how to use a compass. I found this fun!’ Ayyan

‘In writing this week, we wrote a recount on our Easter Holidays. I wrote about going ice-skating with my friends.’ Lexi

‘I enjoyed reading Beth’s recount and giving her a Positive Point and a Helpful Hint.’ Jess

‘This week with Mrs Hutchison, we have changed from drama to art. We coloured a sheet with music notes, like colour by number, related to Easter.’ Eleanor

‘In music we also did vocal exercises.’ Euan

‘Today in class, we learned about block printing. The theme we are focusing on is Blue Planet. We had to create a line drawing with 2 different sea animals and repeat these. For my pattern I chose seals, jellyfish and pearls.’ Emilia

‘This week we found out that Crookfur won Beat the Street for the second time in a row!’ James

‘In topic, we were learning about the Mariana Trench. It was really interesting. We also made a mind map about it.’ Sophia

‘We learned about 1 of the only fish that we have discovered that lives there, the snailfish. I found it really surprising that a giant steel wrecking ball can’t handle the pressure of the Mariana Trench yet a small fish can!’ Ayyan

‘Today we were practising our tennis skills. In pairs, if you threw the tennis ball and hit it you got 1 point, if you got a throw, hit and catch it was 2 points. I enjoyed it.’ Hollie

‘In Maths, Mrs Hobson gave us a new Sumdog challenge in which we had to solve 50 questions on measurement. When we completed this, we got 50 coins!’ Ayyan

‘Thank you for coming to read today’s blog. Catch you later!’ Evan

Week beginning 28th March 2022

‘Welcome to P6a’s blog!’ Isla

‘Today, we made chocolate nests for Easter, I really enjoyed this!’ Jess

‘We were split into 3 groups, 1 for chocolate nests, the other played Sumdog or made an Easter card. Then we swapped over. I really hope my chocolate nest is yummy!’ Molly

‘This week we were finishing our French profiles about ourselves and practised reading to each other. We also had to translate these back into English. I enjoyed this!’ Eleanor

‘In Outdoor Learning, we brought our chairs into the woodland area and chose a place to put them. Then we sketched scenery but imagining what it looked like 150 years ago.’ Tia

‘In Maths we were learning to estimate volume. First we estimated how much liquid was in a bottle then the answer was revealed. I found it fun to guess this.’ Ayyan

‘In Music with Mrs Hutchison, some people had to work out which musical note was which. Other people were learning about rhythms.’ Bella

‘Since it was the last week of term in drama, we chose a game to play. We played clap, clap, stamp, stamp, name.’ Harry

‘In Blue Planet this week, we were learning about the Bermuda Triangle. Christopher Columbus is reported to have seen stars and lights moving around in the sky in 1492. People then thought aliens may have something to do with ships and planes disappearing.’ James

‘My theory is that aliens have kidnapped people and taken them away.’ Harry

‘Scientific reasons suggest that hexagonal clouds control the weather and cause super waves that can be 45ft long!’ Bruce

‘In Literacy, some people were reading a fact or opinion text. After this, the questions asked us which statements were fact or opinion. I found this tricky but think I got most of them right.’ Ayyan

‘Hope you enjoyed our blog, see you after the Easter holidays!’ Leaah
