‘Welcome back to P6a’s blog. This week has been Book Week Scotland and we have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We took part in special lessons related to it!’ Euan
‘We were writing about setting and describing The Chocolate Room from the book.’ James
‘During the lesson we watched clips from the older film and the newer version. We described what was inside the chocolate room, using our senses.’ Harry
‘In the Chocolate Room there was an enormous chocolate waterfall, which churned all of the chocolate ready to be made into chocolate bars.’ James
‘There were also buttercups which Willy Wonka drank out of and then he bit into them!’ Luca Fi
‘I found it quite hard trying to imagine what the sweets would taste like, as I have never been to Willy Wonka’s factory!’ Molly
‘In Maths, we invented different chocolate bar combinations. For example, Maltesers, M&Ms and milk chocolate. We picked 4 combinations and surveyed the class.’ Ayyan
‘After, we made a bar chart showing how many votes we got for each chocolate bar combination.’ Luca Fi
‘I really enjoyed going around the class and asking people what their favourite new chocolate bar would be.’ Bella
‘On Wednesday afternoon, we got to design our own chocolate bar wrappers and gave them names. We also made them 3d using the chromebooks.’ Lauren
‘Our chocolate bar was called Noreo, which is a combination of Nutella and Oreo!’ Tia
‘Our design was a half and half bar called Bronkat. One half was oreo and KitKat and the other was brownie and KitKat.’ Warren & Hamiz
‘On Friday in our table groups we all had the chance to make our own chocolates!’ Heather
‘We melted chocolate and had the option to put sprinkles, oreos, smarties and marshmallows inside. In mine, I put oreos and marshmallows.’ Leaah
‘I enjoyed this lesson because I love chocolate! We learned that the chocolate turned from a solid into a liquid and then back again.’ Sophia
‘This process is called solidifying. My chocolate was called Oreo Delight and I made a poster to advertise my chocolate bar,’ Molly
‘Today we also got to go down to the P1 classrooms and read to our buddies.’ Eleanor
‘When Luca and I went to read to our buddy, he had chosen Monkey Puzzle for us to read to him. It included lots of rhyming words.’ Euan
‘Our buddy picked a book called Giraffe Can’t Dance. Other animals were making fun of him but at the end he learned how to dance and they all encouraged him.’ Lexi
‘I hope you have learned more about what we have been up to this week and see you soon!’ Isla
We are off to eat our chocolate now! 🙂
