P6a Week beginning 18.10.21

Welcome back from the October week holiday!

We’ve had lots of fun this week doing Outdoor Learning, P.E. and more.

‘In Outdoor Learning we made tartan. We found lots of material to dye our fabric.’ Cara

‘The materials we used were berries, wet grass, petals, leaves and some mud as well.’ Bella

‘We put the tartan on our desks and walked around them all, like an art gallery. We picked our favourite ones and explained why.’ James

‘In P.E. we were working on fitness and we played a game called Chicken Fight were you had to dribble your basketball and also knock another person’s away.’ Lexi

‘We also played a game called Fox in the hole were there was 1 fox in the middle and the other 3 were in the corners and the fox had to try to get the ball.’ Hamiz

‘In Topic, we watched a video and took notes about how clans lived and what they like to do.’ Lexi

‘We learned a bit about what it would be like to live in a clan and that their houses were also called crofts.’ James

‘We learned about handfasting and we learned that people do this at weddings and it is a Celtic tradition.’ Isla

Some of us had a go at handfasting!

‘Handfasting is were you tie a knot, the clans used tartan for this.’ Heather

‘Sometimes handfasting was a trial to see if the man wanted to take the women as his legal wife and they would each have their own tartan (if they were from different clans) and they would pull it to ‘tie the knot’. This is were the phrase comes from!’ James

‘In French. Mrs Hobson out up pictures on the board of classroom objects and we had to write them down in French.’ Sophia

‘We were learning that French objects have genders, masculine and feminine. Female is une, masculine is in.’ Molly

‘In Maths, some of us had a competition (girls vs boys) to see who could order all the decimals first. The boys won but the girls did well!’ Ayyan

‘In writing, we were working on VCOP. At the end some of us shared our work and we gave PPs (positive points) and HHs (helpful hints).’ Lexi

‘Whilst writing, we tried to include lots of connectives and punctuation in our writing. We added to a story called The Monster.’ Evan

See you in our next blog and have a wonderful weekend!
