‘Handfasting is were you tie a knot, the clans used tartan for this.’ Heather

‘Sometimes handfasting was a trial to see if the man wanted to take the women as his legal wife and they would each have their own tartan (if they were from different clans) and they would pull it to ‘tie the knot’. This is were the phrase comes from!’ James

‘Every day we had a starter task related to Maths. For example we had to memorise and draw shapes, we also played Guess the Number and we created Maths questions.’ Heather

‘We also got to choose a job and we had to create a poster, including the Maths skills involved in that job.’ Bella

‘For example, the job that I chose was a photographer. The Maths skills involved that I wrote down were, using money, IT, directions and time skills-so that you are not late for photoshoots.’ Molly

‘The job I picked was a footballer and for that job you have to work out angles and speed as you need to know were you are going to score. You also need to be able to work out money to understand your salary. Also you’d have to work out timing so that you arrive at your match on time. Footballers also have to measure their fitness ability.’ Ayyan

‘My job was a Formula 1 driver. You would need to understand speed, time, angles and measure!’ Warren

‘This week in our Clans topic we have been making notes about important information and events in Sottish history.’ Lexi

‘We will be using the notes to make a timeline of important Scottish events.’ James
