Class Presentations.

As part of the development of Language skills in P2, we have given the children the opportunity to create and deliver a presentation on the subject of their favourite hobbies or extra curricular activities.

It has been a pleasure to see them all shine as individuals and build the confidence to speak to an audience of their peers and receive positive feedback and encouragement from each other.

Eid Mela 2026

At Crookfur we love to embrace and celebrate everyone’s beliefs and cultures. And we were very excited to experience Crookfur’s 1st Eid Mela event to mark this year’s Eid.

We designed our own mosques and used construction materials and clay to make these. Some of the children chose to share how they celebrated Eid with worship, traditions and being with their families.

Museum of Rural Life Trip.

P2 had a fantastic time visiting the Museum of Rural Life and were delighted to meet the newborn lambs and calves at the farm. We met one of the farm cats called Sweep and Maggie the farmer told us that over 200 lambs were due to be born!
There was a super interactive workshop on the journey of food and lots of interesting farming history and artefacts to look at. And of course there was the very important tractor ride too!

World Book Day 2026.

We love to explore the world of books and storytelling in P2b and today was full of sharing our imaginations and creativity. The ‘Story in a box/jar’ competition entries were fantastic and the children had a very sociable and fun time together looking at these together in class and taking part in the school book swap.

Our ‘Snap a story’ scene was the popular book, ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ and we re-created our own tea with a tiger to celebrate this.

Investigating and Painting Sea shells!

Thank you to the lovely people who sent in fantastic resources from home to use in our ‘Under the Sea’ topic, it has been much appreciated!

We loved finding out more about what seashells are made of and distinguishing different types using our magnifying glasses and matching these to our description charts.

This inspired us to paint our own vibrant seashells to add to our wall display.

Researching And Writing Our Fact Files.

We have been working hard to research our chosen sea creature and write our individual fact files using this information. This has been a brilliant opportunity to practise using a variety of books and digital media to source key information to use in our writing.

The children are growing in confidence and in their understanding that using technology carefully can enhance their knowledge of what they are learning.

P7C Storybook Visit.

We were so lucky to have P7c visit our class to share their fantastic interactive storybooks. The children in P2b were very impressed and inspired by the creativity and detail in all of the stories and loved the opportunity to spend time with senior pupils in the school.

Take a look at these excellent handmade books and their performances.

Developing our digital skills.

Over the past few months, we have been familiarising ourselves with using the school ipads as a tool for learning. The children are steadily building their confidence in identifying and using a variety of literacy and numeracy apps and exploring search engines. We are currently focused on developing our creativity and skills in building code through programmes such as Scratch Jr. They loved making their own ‘Under the Sea’ project on Scratch, where they could programme sound and movement to their Scratch sprites.
