Investigating Technologies From the Past.

We are very grateful for the super response we have had from parents/grandparents who have sent in equipment and objects they used from different decades. The children have loved investigating these and we have had some fascinating discussions about how technology has progressed over the years. Please continue to surprise us with the fantastic array of  these you might have stored in your lofts or cupboards, it is very much appreciated!

Trying Out Our New Muga.

We love P.E. and sports in P2b and couldn’t wait to try out our new muga court in our school grounds. It was the perfect size for playing our possession games and we had so much fun testing out the new surface, even though it was a bit wet!

Crookfur Colour Run 2025.

This was P2b’s first ever Crookfur Colour Run experience and we had the best time ever! We were very lucky to have our P7 buddies to help and encourage us to run our best laps around the school. Excitement levels were extremely high before we took our turn, but as you can see below, it didn’t disappoint and we could have kept going until the bell. What a wonderful opportunity to bond as a class and support our friends as they had their turn too 🙂

Maths Week Scotland

We really enjoyed taking part in this year’s Maths Week Scotland. The theme was ‘Wild Maths’, and we were able to take our learning of measurement (length), symmetry, shape and repeating patterns outdoors to explore how nature provides us with the best examples of most mathematical concepts. We loved working collaboratively in partnership to complete our Wild Maths scavenger hunt in our Woodlands area and managed to find everything on our list!

Spanish Food Tasting!

We had a brilliant time tasting a variety of Spanish foods including bread, cheese, olives, tortilla, salsa, olive oil and citrus fruits. Everyone demonstrated their adventurous spirit in trying foods they hadn’t tasted before. We discussed the benefits of following a mediterranean diet, including healthy oils and had very definite opinions after our olive oil bread dipping! P2b are proving their excellent ability to engage in new experiences 🙂

Lots of Interesting Artefacts!

The children have been bring in some very interesting items that have created important discussions about Spanish currency, travelling in Spain, traditional food, music and dance. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to do this, it is much appreciated and has helped shape excellent dialogue and developed further questions for us to explore through our Spanish journey.

Exploring Our Topic of Spain.

We have been busy in P2b learning about the geography and landscape of Spain, the symbolism of the Spanish flag and discovered it has a population of nearly 50 million people. Lots of us, have visited parts of Spain on holiday, making important family memories and have even lived there for a time. We had fun using the knowledge we gained about the regions of Spain to create our own labelled maps in collaborative groups.

Welcome to our class!

We have had a wonderful time getting settled into our new term in P2b this week and exploring our classroom environment. The class are so excited about what we might learn this year and I’m sure we are going to have lots of fun developing our creativity and skills across the curriculum. The book we read this week was ‘Zog’ by Julia Donaldson, this text is rich in rhyme, vocabulary and characterisation. We created wonderful drawings of Zog, story mapped his journey and sequenced this in order during our comprehension activities. After this, we had so much fun building dragon caves for Zog and his friends and a palace for Princess Pearl!
