Developing our digital skills.

Over the past few months, we have been familiarising ourselves with using the school ipads as a tool for learning. The children are steadily building their confidence in identifying and using a variety of literacy and numeracy apps and exploring search engines. We are currently focused on developing our creativity and skills in building code through programmes such as Scratch Jr. They loved making their own ‘Under the Sea’ project on Scratch, where they could programme sound and movement to their Scratch sprites.

P2B Love to brush their teeth!

We have been learning about good dental hygiene and how to protect our teeth from decay in our health lessons. The children have been very enthusiastic when practising their toothbrushing technique in class every day. We have shared our knowledge and routines from home and have shown so much engagement in creating a class culture of taking care of our teeth, long may it continue!

A New Year and New Learning.

We have decided to explore life under the sea as apart of our I.D.L learning this term, and have generated wonderful questions to guide our curiosity and expand our knowledge of the natural world. To begin with, we learned about the different zones; their depth, access to light and the sea creatures and plant life that thrive there. Then, we worked brilliantly in collaboration with each other to paint our wall display background. Take a look at our efforts!

Knowing Our Alphabet.

We have been busy practising ordering our alphabet and using this to spell new vocabulary with it. Working with a partner enables us to have important discussions about identifying sounds, placing letters correctly and thinking about how words are made.

Christmas Party Disco!

Having worked incredibly hard on our learning in term 1, we really enjoyed the primary 2 Christmas party. This was our chance to sing, dance and have fun with our friends from P2A and as you can see we had a ball!

Winter Village Drawings.

The children love every opportunity to practise and develop their creative drawing skills. We decided to use black pen on white paper only to focus on the detail and composition of the buildings and landscape. As you can see, we have extremely talented artists in P2b!

Open Afternoons in P2B.

P2b were extremely excited to share their learning with their families this week, when they visited the class on our open afternoons on Wednesday and Thursday. The children were able to discuss their learning with Mrs Dougall on environmental issues and engage with a variety of activities based on this week’s book study of ‘Jim and the Beanstalk’. We had great fun and love to immerse ourselves in creative tasks.

Learning To Use Standard Measurements.

We have been busy investigating standard and non-standard measurement of length and height and have used a variety of materials to do this with. It has been excellent to learn and apply our knowledge of centimetres and metres by measuring objects and areas of our environment.

We are so flexible in P2B!

As part of our P.E. learning in term 1, we have really enjoyed developing our gymnastics skills and challenging ourselves to sequence a number of movements together. P.E. is a highlight of our learning week and we love our gym time!
