Friday 31st October

What an interesting week we have had in Primary 2. We are so glad to see most of our friends returning to school and we have all been washing our hands to ensure we stay fit and healthy ahead of a busy term.
On Monday we welcomed some s6 students from Eastwood for Spanish lessons. We had lots of fun playing their games and activities. We look forward to welcoming them back next week.

Friday 24th October

This week we read Room on the Broom. We talked about how to describe the different characters. We even got someone to dress up as the dragon!

We made our own wands, broomsticks, potions and homes for the witch.

We also created some new characters.

We started to look at measuring weight.

Have a lovely weekend!

Crookfur Primary Colour Run!

Last week we enjoyed taking part in the Colour Run!

We got very colourful. It was good fun running and it was good fun to cheer all our friends on.

We liked looking at how colourful our clothes and hair had become!

We hope it all washed out!

Maths Week Scotland

Last week was Maths Week Scotland. We went outside to explore shape and measure in the woodland. We had a scavenger hunt looking for different shapes and numbers. We measured things with our hands, leaves and sticks. We went hunting for lots of different things. We read a story about Hickory the Hedgehog and he had to sort everything for building his home. Then we built a home for the owl called ‘Miss Kelly.’ We needed to make sure it was the right size for her.

Learning Journeys with Mrs Dougall

Hi there, I’m Mrs Dougall and I teach Enquiry Based Learning across Primaries 2 – 4 during the class teacher’s Non Class Contact time. We have started the year with lots of getting to know you activities and have been learning about the Meta Skills, Feeling, Leading, Integrity and Initiative.

This week was all about Initiative and I have been so impressed with the different ways that P2A used their initiative to solve problems.

We will continue with our Meta Skills learning for another week and then move on to our first Enquiry of the year – watch this space for more information!

Friday 19th September

Welcome to our Spanish cafe!

This week we learned about different Spanish foods. We made menus for our cafe. On Friday we got to try lots of the foods!

The blue cheese was so good!

We liked the crisps and salsa.

The olives were really yummy.

The lime was so sour!

I liked the yummy limes.

The tortilla omelette was so yummy.

The oranges were sweet and juicy.

The salsa is good with the crisps.

I loved the olives!

It was good to dip the bread into the olive oil.

Friday 12th September

This week we used the Kapla to build and create Spanish buildings.

The Kapla was challenging at times, especially when we had it on a table top and the got bumped!

We needed to create an animal first to investigate how to make different shapes with the Kapla.

Take a look at our creations!

Friday 29th August

This week we explored images of Spain. We noticed lots of different features and created a Spanish word bank.

Using items from the classroom we recreated the images. Mrs Norman was so impressed with our creativity and teamwork.

Welcome to Primary 2A!

Last week we started Primary 2! We have loved getting to know our new classroom and teacher, along with some new friends!

We made our Primary 2 class promise to always work hard, try our best and be kind. We made snails for our class charter after reading Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell.

Every day the mystery walker gets to pick a fun song or video if they are showing the school values whilst we walk around the school.

In class we are collecting marbles when we have been working hard. When our jar is full we will have a class reward.

We have been reading Zog this week and we made our own shape dragons. They all look great.

We have enjoyed playing maths games and getting to know our class routines.

We used some putty to be creative. We molded it into different shapes and played it before we created our own designs.

Have a fantastic weekend!
