Waterproof Experiment

This week as part of our weather topic, we conducted an experiment to see which materials are waterproof. If it was waterproof, the water would sit on top, if it wasn’t, the water would soak in or be absorbed.

Sports Week!

As part of World Cup/Commonwealth Day on Thursday, we explored how an athlete keeps fit and healthy by eating the right foods. We explored the Eat Well Guide. We used our imagination and creativity to make a 3D model of the Eat Well Guide.

Then we sorted different foods into the right sections.

Finally we thought about a meal that an athlete might eat when training and designed a plate to show their meal!

Exploring Capacity

Last week, we explored various containers to learn about capacity. We have been learning to read scales to measure amounts in litres and millilitres. We enjoyed all the practical activities.

What’s in the box?

As part of our lessons on senses, we tried guessing the objects that were inside the mystery box. We took it in turns to use really good describing words and the rest of the class helped to guess what the object was. Some were quite tricky to describe without looking at them!

Measuring Length

This week have been exploring measuring length. We started using cubes, our hands and our feet to measure different items in the classroom. We quickly realised we have different sized hands and feet and were getting different measurements!

We started to measure using a ruler. We have to be careful to start at 0 and read the measurement in centimetres.

Senses Walk

We have started our new Learning Journey this week focusing on the five senses. We came up with lots of good questions we hope to find the answers to. We went on a senses walk around the school and recorded what we could see, hear, feel, and smell.

Update from P2A!

Hi everyone,

Here is an update from P2A! We have been working super hard and recently enjoyed our trip to the Museum of Rural Life. We saw lots of animals and enjoyed the workshop.

We have been learning about estimation and estimate a number of items. We then counted to see how close we were! We know an estimate is a sensible guess.

We have enjoyed creating Easter art this week. We chose a pattern and painted the background.

Friday 9th January 2026

Welcome back to our blog in 2026! We received a fantastic gift of a class iPad this week thanks to our fundraising committee. This should make it easier to share pictures for our class blog.
Hopefully next week we can get a picture with all our friends!

This week we started our fitness block in the class. We will be monitoring our fitness levels and trying to improve how strong and fit we are.

Have a lovely weekend!

Friday 14th November

On Monday we started our week going outside and investigating numbers up to 100. We were sorting the numbers with tens and ones.

We had to put some numbers in order. Then we made up some games that we can play with our friends to help our learning.

Thank you to everyone who has brought in some items to look at in class so far. We are looking forward to sharing them with you next week at our open afternoon.

Have a great weekend.

Friday 31st October

What an interesting week we have had in Primary 2. We are so glad to see most of our friends returning to school and we have all been washing our hands to ensure we stay fit and healthy ahead of a busy term.
On Monday we welcomed some s6 students from Eastwood for Spanish lessons. We had lots of fun playing their games and activities. We look forward to welcoming them back next week.
