School trip

We had great fun on Monday visiting Summerlee Museum. We enjoyed the workshop where we learnt about some items from the past, got to try on some old clothes and role play scenarios from the olden days.

We were able to explore the museum and were blown away with how big some of the machinery was.

We were able to play outside with some toys from today and from when granny was a girl.

After lunch, we took a walk round to the cottages where we could go inside each house to see a room from across the decades.

To finish the trip off, we headed to the play park to play with our friends.

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Fire Safety

We were very lucky to have a visit from our local fire station this week. They talked to us all about fire safety and answered some questions we had. We had the best time spraying the hose and climbing in the back of the fire engine to see the equipment inside and imagine what it’s like to be a firefighter being called out to an emergency. We even got to try on some of the uniform which was far too big for us!

We have been busy exploring living things. We took our learning into the garden to see what we could find that was growing and described to our peers what we could see and smell.

we investigated how living things grow and what they need to survive. To help deepen our understanding we planted our own sunflower seeds which have been growing in the classroom.

We have had lots of great discussion around what is happening in our plant pots and used this to help us with our writing where we described what we could see and made a prediction of what will happen next.

We have been so inspired with our learning that we now have our very own garden centre in our classroom for all our gardening needs!

I hope you all have a great long weekend and I will look forward to hearing about everyone’s adventures on Tuesday!
