Dear Families,

At Cross Arthurlie Nursery we aim to be ‘Nut-Free’. The nursery tries to protect children who have allergies to nuts yet also help them, as they grow up, to take responsibility as to what foods they can eat and to be aware of where they may be put at risk.

We do not allow nuts or nut products in lunch boxes.

We have a child attending our nursery, who has a severe peanut allergy. The child’s anaphylaxis (allergic reaction) can occur as a result of digestion, inhalation or any other contact with nut-based products.

Please do not send your child into nursery with any nut-based product for a snack or packed lunch – this includes products that may contain traces of nuts and could include the following:

  • Spreads, e.g. chocolate spread
  • Cereal bars
  • Some types of biscuit containing nuts
  • Condiments, e.g. satay sauce
  • Cakes containing nuts
  • Some snack pots containing nuts

It is important that you check the labelling of food products before sending your child in to nursery with them – it is not always apparent that products contain nuts or traces of nuts. By checking the label you will be helping us ensure that everyone is safe.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter.

Kind regards,

Sharon Galloway

Principal Teacher
