Starting Primary 1

Registration for school

East Renfrewshire’s website  gives all of the information that you need about making an application for Primary Education.

Parents who wish to apply for a Primary One place  should watch for adverts in the local press, seek information at nurseries or playgroups or approach the school for details.  Registration normally takes place in January.

For children who have a birthday in January or February the parents have the option of deferring entry to school.  This should be discussed with the nursery staff and at their registration for school.

There will be opportunities for transition days for all children attending Primary 1. These will be organised by the nursery and the school your child is has a place at.

Please see your school website for more information for parents. This information will be given to parents when a place for their child at the primary school has been confirmed.

Placing requests can be made online or by completing a form available from the council offices in Main Street.

Please contact the education department with catchment area queries on: 0141 577 3578.
