Short Talks

Well done to all  who have now performed their short talk . What a fabulous effort we have had from Primary 5 this week! The class have prepared really well and entertained us with a whole variety of topics including: the solar system, dogs, football, pigeons, roller coasters and more! It was great to see the confidence of the pupils speaking so clearly to their peers.  Below is a taster of the action.

Beijing 🇨🇳

This term as part of our learning about China we have been researching important landmarks in Beijing the capital city of China. We used our facts to create tourist information posters and then presented them to each other.

Go Wild with Mandarin 🐼

This morning we had our first session of Go Wild with Mandarin. This was a live lesson with an expert in Mandarin and animal conservation.  We were learning about the history of some Chinese characters through games. We had to guess animals by using clues and using our knowledge of characters. We also had to draw Chinese characters and were learning about endangered species such as the pangolin.

Neilston Show Winners 🏅 🖼️ 🏆

Congratulations to our talented artists who were placed in the Neilston Show Art competition. Our class entered the contest to design a poster for the theme of A Day at the Neilston Show! We were delighted to learn that Blair Martin was awarded 2nd place overall and both Fraser Waddell and Grace McAleese received highly commended awards! Well done!

Badminton 🏸

This week in PE we were practising skills for badminton. Since the shuttlecock can be tricky to control we practised, first of all, with balloons. It was lovely to see all the balloons in the air as we practised using our rackets.

Spanish Artists

This term our artwork has been inspired by Spanish artists. We have been looking closely at the art of Salvador Dali and Antonio Gaudi. Below you can see a selection of our Elephants inspired by Dali and our mosaics inspired by Gaudi.

Red Nose Day Fun

Today we had lots of fun celebrating Red Nose Day whilst raising money for great causes. In the class we had our joke off contest which was just so funny! 😆  Our class winner was Arlo. 👏🏻 We also did an anagram challenge and wordsearch for Comic Relief. Later we had fun in the hall trying out some challenges organised by our House Captains. Finally we took part in a class dance.

Police Visit 👮

Today we had a visit from our campus cop, P.C. Lorraine, as part of our learning about Crime and Punishment. P.C. Lorraine told us the duties of a police officer and the training involved in becoming a police officer. She also explained about all the specialisms there are in the police force e.g. detective work or working with police dogs. We had lots of questions for P.C. Lorraine which she kindly answered which helped us understand better the role of a police officer.

Science Centre Visit 🧫 🧪 🧬

Today we enjoyed a fantastic day at Glasgow Science Centre. We learned about electricity ⚡️ in the Lab and got hands-on to test materials to check to see if they were conductors or insulators. We also built our own circuits and had time to explore each of the three floors where we had fun with  all the interactive exhibits.
