APPRENTICE ENGINEER

37.5 hrs per week (unless on day‐release)
Job Outline:
To train as an apprentice engineer with specialisation in civil, structural or mechanical
engineering, undertake a structured training program of academic study and office/ laboratory
work in order to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the engineering requirements
of an industry leading fastener manufacturer.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes
while under the instruction of skilled technical staff,
2. To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by
working independently or within a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing
overall contribution to the department,
3. To undertake and successfully complete suitable college/ university courses throughout
the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle
yearly progression leading to the award of a suitable degree in engineering (civil,
structural or mechanical),
4. Learning and understanding the importance of health and safety within the workspace,
5. To develop the skills to construct or modify apparatus and instruments in the laboratory,
6. To develop the skills to create designs and drawings in the office,
7. To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects
that have been undertaken and the skills learned,
8. To maintain and to ensure good housekeeping of the workplace and laboratory areas,
9. To perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the post holders’ line manager.
Salary: £17,500 per annum (reviewed annually)
Bonus: Discretionary
Pension: 3% employee & 5% employer contribution
Note(s):
The nature of the role would be suited to a motivated school leaver who is keen on pursuing a
career in engineering through a mixture of college/university (day release) and practical application
through work.

Purpose of the role: |
Provide effective and efficient support to the Morrison Construction Central Business Unit

Key Accountabilities: |
· Plan weekly activity with the Site Manager
· Co-ordinate the activities of particular sub-contractors/trades to ensure work is carried out efficiently · Monitor the quality of work carried out and address any issues as directed · Ensure health, safety and environmental legislation and company procedures are followed onsite at all times · Keep up to date and complete site records in line with company and legislative requirements as directed · Communicate with clients and third parties in Morrison Constructions best interests at all times · Set role model and ensure high standards of personal conduct on site at all times · Identify potential issues with successful project delivery. Discuss with line manager and agree solutions · Assume responsibility for the use of and security of all surveying equipment

CHILD SERVICES PLAY SCHEMES VOLUNTEERS

Dates: July 8th – Thursday Aug 8th
Where: Connexions space at Cosgrove Care head office in May Terrace, Giffnock, G46 6LD , just a short walk from Giffnock train station. No. 38 buses.
Role:
The play schemes run Monday to Thursday from 9 am – 4 pm and offers volunteers a range of days and times to suit, however we ask for a minimum commitment of two days volunteering, preferably consecutive days.
Volunteers will be involved in a variety of creative, fun and practical activities: arts and crafts group, music, drama, dance, baking. There is also scope for you to share your own particular hobbies and interests with the children, such as music or sport. There may also be opportunities for the volunteers to support our children with an activity in the wider community such as an outing to the local swimming pool, a soft play area or a day trip to the coast.
