Greenkeeping Modern Apprenticeship

Are you aged 16-19 and looking for an opportunity to gain on the job experience whilst working towards a qualification?  If so, a Greenkeeping Modern Apprenticeship within Caldwell Golf Club could be what you are looking for.  Under our experienced Course Manager and Greens Team, you will be trained in all areas of Greenkeeping, from turf management, mowing techniques, equipment operation and maintenance, to drainage installation and construction projects.  As your apprenticeship progresses, you will be exposed to further golf course operations, participate in projects and take on your own responsibilities.

Our 3 year programme, with day release to college, leads to a Sports Turf Level 2 and Level 3 SVQ qualification.

Successful candidate will gain experience in:

  • Daily golf course set up
  • Treating sports turf to ensure consistent playing surfaces
  • Operating and maintaining turf grass machinery and tools
  • Drainage installation and construction projects
  • Disease and Pest Management
  • Problem Solving
  • Knowledge and skills in sports turf science

Applicants should be aged 16-19.  However, disabled or care experienced applicants up to the age of 29 are also eligible to apply.

Applicant requirements:

  • National 4 English
  • National 4 Applications of Maths or Maths
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A keen interest in Golf (desirable but not essential)

We are now accepting applications for our 2021 Technology, Operations and Finance Apprenticeship Programmes.

These programmes, aimed at high school leavers, provide the opportunity for those who are both ambitious and academically strong, to study towards a qualification, whilst gaining practical industry experience and earning a salary.

 TECHNOLOGY GRADUTE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Whilst working at Morgan Stanley, we will support you to achieve a degree in BSc (Hons) Software Development in partnership with the University of Strathclyde. You will benefit from theory-based learning as well as the opportunity to develop practical skills in IT, which you will apply as you gain a valuable insight into the financial industry. This 4 year programme will start in September 2021.

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Working towards, or completion of, a minimum of 4 Higher Grades at BBBB including either Computing, Maths or Physics, plus English.

OPERATIONS GRADUATE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Whilst working at Morgan Stanley, we will support you to achieve a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management in partnership with the University of Strathclyde. You will benefit from the chance to grow and enhance your skills in a challenging, fast-paced environment, at the heart of our Operations division. This 4 year programme will start in September 2021.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Working towards, or completion of, a minimum of 4 higher grades at BBBB including Mathematics and English.

FINANCE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

 Morgan Stanley offer an exciting three year Finance Apprenticeship Programme, beginning in September 2021, during which you will be supported through your studies for the ACCA Foundation Diploma to provide you with theoretical and practical accounting skills, as well as insight into the financial world.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Working towards, or completion of, a minimum of four Higher Grades or equivalent at BBBC (one sitting) or BBBB (two sittings), including Maths and English. Maths must be of grade B or above.

What are we looking for?

We are recruiting for four Modern Apprentice (MA) Biomedical Support Workers (Medical Laboratory Assistants) to join our Laboratory Medicine teams .

What qualifications do I need to apply?

At the time of submitting your application you must already hold a minimum of two Highers (or SCQF equivalent) at grade A to C in Biology and Chemistry and a National 5 (or SCQF equivalent) grade A to C in Maths.

This is an entry level position suitable for a young person with an interest in Laboratory Sciences.

What departments will I be working for?

The MA posts are rotational and you will spend time in each of our labs located across two hospital sites; Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow City South and the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow City East.

You will rotate across four laboratory disciplines and will receive training to support the following specialist areas;

  • Biochemistry
  • Haematology
  • Microbiology
  • Pathology
