NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Modern Apprenticeship Programme – Latest Vacancies

NHS GGC have been developing opportunities for a second intake of apprentices over the next six to nine months.  It is anticipated that there will be approximately 50 apprenticeship posts on offer as part of this next intake.

We are currently recruiting to two apprentice audio typists.  One post is based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the other at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (will move to the new South Glasgow University Hospital site in June 2015).  Both posts are aligned to the Business & Administration Level 2 Framework. 

These posts are two year apprenticeships.  Full details of the job role, salary, application process etc can be found at the website above.

We will also be hosting an information session for  interested applicants on Friday, 9th January and would encourage anyone with an interest in these apprenticeship posts to attend this.  Places at the session need to be booked in advance and details of how to do this can be found on the information pack supplied on the webpages.   The closing date for applications is Friday, 16th January 2015.

The minimum qualifications required for this post are:

  • National 4 English (or equivalent) and
  • Two other National 4 qualifications ( National 4 Administration & IT is desirable)

Entry requirements

·         Three Standard Grades band 3 or above or Intermediate 2s, National 5 or equivalent in English, Math’s and Physics

·         Having previously passed the S.E.C.T.T. test will be an advantage but it is not a necessity as it will be administered during the course

·         This course is designed for school leavers.

‘A PLACE TO WORK EVENT’ – MEET THE EMPLOYERS

The YEAP partnership have recently developed a new mobile platform for East Renfrewshire: ‘A Place to Work’. This exciting new mobile website has been created to help job seekers find the right support available from the YEAP partnership by capitalising on the increased use of smart phones among young people. It further helps job seekers and employers in and around East Renfrewshire to promote, search and apply for jobs on the go with 11 job roles currently being advertised on the site by local employers.

To celebrate a number of the employers that are currently advertising on the site, will attend a launch event to accept CV’s and meet potential candidates.

You are invited to this drop in event to learn about the site’s features, learn how to assist young people and job seekers set up job alerts directly to their phones, and raise awareness of the site.

The new mobile site features

The new site has many great features. Job seekers can set up job alerts so they can be notified when new vacancies are posted, browse the jobs board for open vacancies and apply directly via the site. East Renfrewshire Council and workER have made sure to include information and links to support services from the area’s employability partners. Helpful job tips will be available through the News section of the site and workER and the support services partners are directly contactable via the site.

NC IN TECHNICAL THEATRE – GLASGOW KELVIN COLLEGE

This course runs from January 2015 to June 2015 at Glasgow’s largest centre for Performing Arts, Glasgow Kelvin College.

Through the NC Technical Theatre you will learn about the various roles and responsibilities involved in theatre production, gain experience in creating scenery & props, and work back-stage in supporting theatrical performances, whether they be Plays, Musicals, Dance, or concerts.

These skills will then be applied in supporting our performing arts students in their plays, musicals, and dance productions in professional theatres in and around Glasgow.

You will learn about Stage Management, Stage Lighting, Stage Sound, Prop Making, and develop Workshop Skills for Set Design and Construction. Therefore, the ideal applicants will typically have successfully studied some of the following National 4 or National 5 (or equivalent) courses at school:

Art & Design (Design), Creative Arts, Design & Manufacture, Design & Technology, Drama, Graphic Communications, Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts, Practical Crafts, Practical Electronics, Practical Metalworking, or Practical Woodworking.

Students who pass the NC Technical Theatre, and demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm throughout are guaranteed a place on the HND Technical Theatre & Production Arts (SCQF 7/8) in August 2015.
