Main Duties

 

Undertake the processing for the accounts payable function, including:

  • Ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices
  • Receipting and matching of invoices
  • Scanning/filing of invoices and other Accounts Payable documentation

Information about the Agency: Transport Scotland was established in January 2006

as an executive agency of the Scottish Government. We are responsible, on behalf

of Scottish Ministers, for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the

railway and trunk road networks throughout Scotland and for running the national

concessionary travel schemes. The Rail Directorate works closely with Network

4 Year Programme of Development

Outline of Training

These positions are for a full Modern Apprenticeship programme culminating in the attainment of an SVQ Level 2, SVQ Level 3 and an Academic qualification.

On completion of the programme successful candidates would achieve fully qualified Engineering status.

The programme consist of:

Year 1

Commencement of initial training on 5 basic job packs as part of the SVQ part of the apprenticeship over the first 5 months of employment.

Begin day release further education studies to NC level.

The last 7 months of the 1st year of training to be completed in the Thales on site specialised training centre.

Year 2 & Year 3

Participate in training within production work cells on a 4-6 month rotational basis to obtain a fully flexible range core skills on all aspects of the manufacturing processes of Assembly and Test. All training recorded and verified to SVQ standard and externally assessed and verified.

Continue with day release further education studies to NC level.

Year 4

Complete full SVQ job packs to obtain full qualification.

Progression to Product System Testing, Inspection, Optical Testing and Environmental Testing.

Full review of further education achieved and consider higher level qualification if appropriate.

Qualification Requirements

The successful applicant would be expected to hold 4 National 5 Grades at Level C or above, or alternatively 4 Standard Grades at Credit level in Maths, English and a Science subject (preferably Physics)
