The Role

Business Insurance Advisor Modern Apprentice
When it’s time to leave school or college we know it can be difficult to decide whether to go to university or straight into work. Likewise considering a potential change in direction later on in your career. But a professional Modern Apprenticeship scheme with AXA offers a real alternative for school leavers, college leavers or those looking for a change of career that are bright and ambitious and have the passion to work towards a career in financial services.
Our programme will offer you a two year apprenticeship within AXA Business Insurance in Glasgow, the first financial services organisation in Scotland to be awarded the prestigious gold Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation.
You’ll get all the support you need to become a confident and skilled Business Insurance Advisor – and we’ll provide you with the perfect background and exposure to further your career within AXA and the financial services  industry.
You’ll be working at the heart of our operational teams, providing high-quality support to our customers in a multi-channel environment. There will also be sales and renewal retention targets and cross-selling opportunities, which help create a really exciting environment to work in.

Ultimately, our key objective during this apprenticeship is to maximise your potential. On the successful completion of the programme, during which you’ll need to demonstrate a proven and sustained performance, we’ll reward you with an additional 12 month scheme.

How far you progress is largely down to the commitment, drive and effort you’re prepared to put in to succeed. But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Lindsay MacDonald, a modern apprentice who joined AXA in 2014, had to say:
“I’ve loved my time at AXA Business Insurance. I started in 2014 and I’ve loved every minute of it. I have gained a great deal of confidence and skills that have only been made available to me by choosing to do a Modern Apprenticeship with AXA.”

INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN ACCOUTANCY?

The Grant Thornton Accelerate Programme is diverse, challenging and rewarding.  Our school leaver programme offers young people the chance to get ahead of the game, enhance their skills and learn an incredible amount in a fast paced dynamic organisation.  When working with us candidates will be working in our audit department as a trainee for five years, working towards their Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification with ICAS.  Under normal circumstances a person obtains a university degree and then works towards this qualification for a further three years after this.  Our Accelerate programme offers students a chance to learn and grow in a professional environment, whilst studying towards one of the most highly credited qualifications in the world, whilst earning a salary and gain hands on, client facing experience from day 1.

As part of the programme we offer school visits to ensure our young people have all the information they need before applying.  This may be attending careers fairs, presentations to large groups, presentations to a class or even meeting with a select number of interested candidates who want to know more.

This year, we are hosting our very own “Insight Day” in our office.  During this day candidates will be invited along to hear a presentation from one of our senior partners, hear more about the firm as a whole and will take part in a mini assessment centre to prepare them for interview stages.  This will also provide them the opportunity to ask any questions they have and will get a feel for what our office is like.  To win a place at our Insight Day candidates must submit an elevator pitch – about 30 seconds long – telling us why they believe they should be at our event.  This may be in the form of a video, a poster, a powerpoint, a poem, a word document, anything at all, creativity is always encouraged.
