Clyde Marine Training – Jan 2016 Recruitment Drive

Clyde Marine Training, the UKs largest maritime training provider are in the process of recruiting trainees for its January 2016 intake at the City of Glasgow College to become Deck or Engineering Officers.

You will be based within a parts department, involved in giving customer advice, ordering required parts, components or accessories and updating computer systems.

Basic motor vehicle technology will be a part of the course as well as telephone and sales techniques.

You must have or expect to gain Standard Grade English, Maths, and an Admin or Computer Studies subject, at Credit or General Level or National 4 or above, Intermediates are also accepted.

It is essential that you are literate, numerate, reliable and keen to learn.

You will be working towards Modern Apprenticeship – SVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Parts Distribution

Social Mobility Foundation programmes

We support high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds into top universities and professions.  We organise all-expenses paid residential internships in London for young people in S5 from across the country. These occur out of school time during the summer holidays for students interested in engineering, banking, accountancy, law, and medicine.

Every student will receive a mentor, an action-packed placement, university workshops as well as fun social activities such as a theatre trip and trip on the London Eye.  Our support also continues whilst the students are at university. We currently have opportunities for school leavers to undertake an exciting 4 year Technology Apprenticeship Programme, beginning in September 2016.

Morgan Stanley will support you to attain a degree within BSC (Hons) IT Management for Business, to provide you with theoretical and practical management skills within the IT environment, as well as insight into the financial world.

The degree course has been granted professional accreditation – Awarded Tech Industry Gold by Tech Partnership. Tech Industry Gold degrees are defined by employers to provide students with the technical, business and interpersonal skills that place them in high demand in the technology sector.

Year 1: Provides a broad foundation with students studying modules in programming, web development, software engineering and computer systems from the computing department and economics and data analysis Year 2: Second year students continue to develop both their technical and business knowledge with modules in programming, object oriented analysis and design, database development, financial management and general management Year 3: This year include IT Project Management, Human Computer Interaction, Financial Management, Strategic Management and Research Skills & Professional Issues Year 4: The final year gives students increasing depth of knowledge in project management, business strategies and big data; there are opportunities to specialise in a range of different areas from both the technical and business fields

Morgan Stanley Glasgow: Finance Apprenticeship Programme 2016

In recognition that times are changing, we appreciate that not all school leavers will have the means or the interest in pursuing a university degree.  For those who are both ambitious and academically strong we would like to offer an alternative – an opportunity to study towards a professional qualification while gaining both practical industry experience and earning a salary.

Due to the success of the Programme which was introduced in 2011, in September 2016 we will be looking to start further school leavers on the ACCA Foundation Diploma qualification through our Finance Apprenticeship.

This will be a 3 year programme during which we will support the students through this qualification, whilst developing both their technical and soft skills within a work environment. The ACCA qualification provides students with practical accounting and financial skills while developing their grasp of business.  It is designed to give students expertise that they can use in the real world, an opportunity to learn the theory of accounting while putting it into practice too.
