HOWDEN COMPRESSORS OPEN EVENING – WEDNESDAY 1 APRIL, 6PM

Howden Compressors are holding an engineering apprenticeship open evening on Wednesday 1st April at 6pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone you know who is interested in coming along and learning more about how our apprenticeship scheme is set up, what we do here at Howden Compressors and the products that we make on site. They will also get all the information they need to apply for one of our apprenticeship openings.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about our apprenticeship programme is very welcome to attend. If they are under 18 they should bring a parent/guardian along with them.

BARCLAYS – GRADUATE APPRENTICESHIP – SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Our Software Engineering GA degree programme has been designed in partnership with industry and draws upon global research on work-based learning best practice.

Importantly, our employer partners are recruiting now and the window for students to apply for 2020 extends into the Summer. Barclays alone are recruiting 47 Tech GAs with us and other big name and exciting tech companies are coming online soon. You can view our vacancies here.

To highlight a few benefits:

  • Graduate Apprentices benefit from a job, a salary (starting salary circa £15k) and a degree (Software Engineering BSc Hons) at the same time.
  • Applicants apply directly to the employers therefore not impacting UCAS submissions.
  • The degree course is funded by Skills Development Scotland.
  • The GA is 4 years with the time split between the employer and the university.
  • The apprentices have a strong on campus university experience through our block learning programme in years 1 and 2
  • There are options to specialise in Data Science, Cyber Security, or Systems Engineering in years 3 and 4

We also flex a little on our entry requirement accepting B’s rather than our straight A norm. This really opens the opportunity for more students to attain a Russell Group University degree and consider options beyond a traditional route. It is a great option for students for whom Maths, Sciences and ICT related subjects are their strong point.

We would be grateful if you could share this information with your teaching staff, parent community and students.

A member of the GA team would be happy to pop on a call to answer questions.

Parents will have the opportunity to hear from our business, our Apprentices/Apprentice-Parents and our Early Careers teams. We will also walk through the application and assessment process and the support available through our LifeSkills programme, with the opportunity for Q&A at the end.

The parents we are keen to engage with are:

  • S3 to S6 Parents, interested in finding out about Graduate Apprentice opportunities for their children, either for applications this year or for 2021 and beyond.
  • Any parents interested in Barclays Apprenticeships overall.

Session Times

Parents will take part individually using simple pc technology details of which our delivery partner, Channel Talent, will send prior to each session. The available session times are:

  • Session 1 (5th March) @ 19.00-19.45
  • Session 2 (6th March) @ 19.00-19.45
