Message from Stirling University
We have been working on a couple of projects in recent weeks to support school pupils who are interested in studying with us and also those who are interested in finding out more about the university and university life:
Academic Webinar Series
Academic Taster sessions, led by University of Stirling lecturers, will give students an insight into what a first year lecture is like, providing an excellent bridge between Higher/Advanced Higher and University content. These sessions are also a great way for attendees to get an in-depth understanding into the popular subject areas, helping them to get more information for their university degree options. If interested in any of the courses below register using the attached link
Monday 15th March
4:00 – 5:00pm Sport Studies: Psychology of Sport
In this webinar with Dr Chris Hartley, we will explore the mental side of sport: We will have a fun and experiential introduction to what mental skills in sport are, and what impact they can have on both the performance and mental wellbeing of elite athletes, as well as the sport experiences of younger athletes. We will then critically review how these skills are portrayed in the media, and examine some of the scientific evidence behind what really works
Tuesday 16th March
4:00 – 5:00pm Business Studies
Dr Mike Walsh will take you through the fundamentals of Business and Management and how they impact upon the modern world.
Wednesday 17th March
4:00 – 5:00pm Philosophy
“What am I?” This is a question that we often ask ourselves. It is also one of the most fundamental questions of philosophy. In this session with Dr Adrian Haddock, we will consider this question, and begin to explain its significance.
Tuesday 30th March
4:00 – 5:00pm Sport and Exercise Science
An overview of the fundamental components that make up Sport & Exercise Science. During this interactive session with Dr Lewis MacGregor you will see how theoretical knowledge underpins the scientific practice that supports Sport and Exercise from elite performance athletes, to critically ill patients, to the general population trying to be fit and healthy.
