S4 pupils studying National 5 Chemistry should be aware that they will be sitting their unit 2 UAS and unit 2B test next week (week beginning 21st September).

The unit 2 UAS will cover all key areas in Unit 2.

The unit 2B test will cover the following key areas: Everday Consumer Products and Energy from Fuels.

Please note below that the date for the S4 National 5 Unit 2B test and UAS has been moved to the week beginning Monday 1st December. This is to give pupils ths best opportunity to complete their internal assignment before preparing for these assessments.

S4 pupils will begin their National 4/5 Chemistry Assignment on Monday 17th November.

This is an assessment which is conducted in school under exam condistions and is then externally marked by the SQA. 

The assignment is worth 20 marks out of the total of 100 marks. This is 20% of the overall marks for the course assessment. 

In preparation for this task, pupils should begin researching possible applications of alcohol and any positive/ negative effects these applications have on society or the enviroment.

S4 Chemistry pupils are getting prepared to complete their Outcome 1 Internal Assessment on writing a Scientific Report. On completion of this task, pupils can use their report as a source of information for their National 4/5 Chemistry Assignment.

S6 Advanced Higher projects will begin with Mrs. McMorran’s class on Monday 3rd November.

Mr. Cowans’ class will begin their projects on Monday 24th November and Mrs. Boyle’s class will begin on Monday 5th January 2015.

All pupils should ensure they have thoroughly researched their project and associated risk assessments before these dates.
