Primary 6b November Blog

This has been a busy month for Primary 6b.

In ICT, we have been developing our research skills and finding information about our Scottish Parliament mini topic. This will hopefully prepare us for our visit from the Scottish Parliament outreach teacher where we will be learning all about democracy and debating.

In RME, we have been learning about Noah’s Ark and other stories from the Bible. We have made an ark and put the things that we need or want in it e.g. family, friends, food, and necessities. We have also made a comic strip of the story. Katie said, ‘We read some books from the old and New Testament with a partner and tried to find meaning in some paragraphs from the bible. Last, but not least, we looked and read some stories in the bible and evaluated them.’

Awesome Achievements

The whole of P6b have been awesome Achievers by working so hard on developing our enterprise skills when planning for our ‘Dragons’ Den’ event. Our four qualifying teams presented their sales pitches to two Parent Council members and Mr Lawson. They all did such a fantastic job that all teams were successful in securing funding to make their winning designs.  Please look out for the finished products which will be on sale at the Christmas fair in December.

This week Ross and Matthew were chosen to represent Giffnock Primary at the Woodfarm badminton cluster event competition. They were successful at qualification and went through to the East Renfrewshire finals.  They came a magnificent fourth place.  Matthew said, ‘It was a good challenge and I enjoyed playing doubles with Ross.’

A group of pupils from our class also attended the Glasgow Athletics’ Championships at the Emirates’ Stadium. Freya, Erin, Aidan and Rory all participated and performed brilliantly.  Freya came 1st in the 600m, Rory came 3rd in the 600m and 2nd in the 60m and Erin came 4th in the 60m and 4th in the long jump.  A fantastic effort to all involved.  Freya said, ‘It was fun running in the Emirates for Giffnock North.’
