Weekly Prayers

Prayers this week have been prepared by third year pupils.

Monday 19 March 2018.

Today is the Solemnity of St Joseph, Spouse of Mary and Guardian of Jesus. He is not mentioned often in the Bible but the times they are mentioned are important. Indeed, he is seen as the protector of Jesus and Mary from dangers. As he protects the Holy Family we see him as the Patron of the Family and so today we pray for our families. We pray that families will always be places of love where we learn not only to love each other but to love God.

Hail Mary…

Tuesday 20 March 2018.

Today, Patrick of Third Year tells us about prayer.

‘My experience of prayer is pretty normal compared to anyone else’ that I know or have met. I go to Morning Mass in our School. Sometimes prayer takes your mind off important things like tests and homework and assignments. I have also gone to events in Carfin and Whithorn and the atmosphere in these places is just unbelievable. I hope that being prayerful will help me flourish as a person.’

Hail Mary …..

Wednesday 21 March 2018.

During this special time of Lent let us pray a simple prayer that knowing that Jesus died for us we will know his real love for us and that we will always feel protected in God’s Loving Care. Amen.

Let us ask God to answer our prayers.

Our Father….

Thursday 22 March 2018.

Elliot of Third Year tells us about Lent.

‘Many people think that during Lent we should focus only on giving up things that you like such as food and sweets but we are asked to do more and focus intently on almsgiving which means giving money to the poor or other acts of charity like volunteering. Even listening to someone in a time of need can be a great act of kindness.’

Friday 23 March 2018.

Brooke of Third Year has chosen this short passage about Lent.

‘A translation of the word charity back into the Greek is ‘agape’ meaning an open and generous love of others. Jesus showed us this open and generous love in his time on Earth. Jesus did not judge people nor reserve his love for a few or for the good. Jesus showed his love for all : the outcast and the sinner. We pray that like Jesus we will have a genuine love for all people.

Hail Mary…
