Weekly Prayers

Monday 22 January 2018.

Yesterday was the traditional date for the Feast of St Agnes who was martyred at the start of the Fourth Century who sacrificed her life rather than submitting to losing her chastity. On her Feast Day, the Pope blesses several lambs whose wool is then used to make the pallium which is a special cloak or scarf worn by certain Archbishops and is a sign of their position.

Today, we pray for all those who are called by God. We remember those who will follow God at some cost or sacrifice. We pray for our Priests and Bishops that they will continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit as they lead us in faith.

Tuesday 23 January 2018.

In our lives today we all have certain rights but with these comes responsibilities. For us as people of faith comes the responsibility to care for others. If we look out for each other we will make our world a loving and caring place. However, we will also be living our faith. In this way, fulfilling God’s wish for us we will find true happiness and contentment.

God our Father, with the gifts you have given to us, we have the responsibility and duty to use them wisely to treat others in a loving and caring manner.

Hail Mary……

Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Today we praise God for our School.

Lord we praise you for how you work through our school. We praise you for the Christ-centred education that our school provides to the local community and its children is inspiring them to relate to one another in a loving, giving way, and pray for them as they reach out to the poor in their community.

We give thanks that our school is thriving: that it has an excellent reputation in the area and that places are in high demand. We pray that the pupils will learn to be more like Jesus and they will grow in faith and become shining beacons of His love.

We pray for our staff that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit and strengthened in faith in their important work.

Amen

 Thursday 25 January 2018.

At this time when many are sitting or preparing for prelims we remember them in our prayers and pray that we too may be thankful for the Lord’s intercession when we are in the classroom or studying:

Father of Light and Wisdom, thank you for giving me a mind that can understand and a heart that can love. Help me to keep learning every day of my life – no matter what the subject may be.

Let me be convinced that all knowledge leads to you and let me know how to find you and love you in all the things that you have made. Encourage me when studies are difficult and when I am tempted to give up. Enlighten me when my brain is slow and help me to grasp the truth held out to me.

Grant me the grace to put my knowledge to use in the building the kingdom of God on earth so that I may enter the Kingdom of God in heaven.

Amen.

Our Father……….

Friday 26 January 2018.

Lord we thank you for all the things you have given me especially the love of Jesus who died and rose for our sins. I am eternally grateful and ask for your forgiveness for the times I have sinned. We remember those in our world whose lives are not easy especially those who live in fear of violence and persecution. We pray that they will know your love. You loved us so much that you sent your only Son to die for our sins. Help us to make good use of the grace given to us through the Resurrection of Jesus.

Hail Mary….
