Weekly Prayers

Monday 30th October

On this day in history, President George H W Bush of the USA opened an historic conference aimed at forging peace between Israel, Palestine and other Arab Nations

Let us pray that our world leaders today are guided by an ambition to forge peace among nations

Together we will say a prayer for world peace

“Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle; the strength to be forgiving; the patience to be understanding; and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to what we believe to be right.

May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil and the power of love to overcome hatred.

We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe in a world emancipated from violence, a new world where fear shall no longer lead men to commit injustice, nor selfishness make them bring suffering to others.

Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny for which we and all men were created

Amen”

Tuesday 31 October

Today is the feast of All Hallows Eve. We begin the 3 day period of Allhallowtide, a time in which we remember loved ones who have passed away, as well as the saints and martyrs who have guided the Church.

Together we will say a prayer for those close to us who have passed away

“Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace. Amen.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.”

Wednesday 1st November

Today is the feast of All Saints Day. Today, we remember the saints and martyrs of the Church who have helped to shape and guide our faith.

The patron saint of our school is St Ninian. He is thought to have been the person who first brought Christianity to Scotland in 397 AD.

Together, we will pray for St Ninian and all the saints

“How shining and splendid are your gifts, O Lord

which you give us for our eternal well-being

Your glory shines radiantly in your saints, O God

In the honour and noble victory of the martyrs.

The white-robed company follow you,

bright with their abundant faith;

They scorned the wicked words of those with this world’s power.

For you they sustained fierce beatings, chains, and torments,

they were drained by cruel punishments.

They bore their holy witness to you

who were grounded deep within their hearts;

they were sustained by patience and constancy.

Endowed with your everlasting grace,

may we rejoice forever

with the martyrs in our bright fatherland.

O Christ, in your goodness,

grant to us the gracious heavenly realms of eternal life.”

Thursday 2nd November

Today is All Soul’s day, when we pray for the souls of all Christians who have passed away.

Together, we will pray for the souls of the faithful departed

“For all our departed brothers and sisters Merciful Father, hear our prayer and console us. As we renew our faith in Your Son, whom You raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen”

Friday 3rd November

November is a national month of awareness for pancreatic cancer, lung cancer and cancers which affect males.

Every year, worldwide, millions of people receive treatment for cancer.

Together, we will pray for them, that they remain strong throughout their treatment and beyond

Hail Mary…
