The Apostle James writes, “If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’ but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?” James 2:15-16

God of all, you made the world to be a place of bountiful harvest. You express your creativity and generosity in food; avocados and strawberries, carrots and starfruit, coconut and coffee beans, fish and fowl, wheat, oat and rice all gifts for the health of your people. We pray for all of those who are sick because they lack access to their share of the Earth’s bounty.

Fill the plates and pantries of those who are hungry with good things to eat.
Fill the cups of those who thirst with good things to drink.
Fill us with your spirit to create systems of food security for all people.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
