To promote positive relationships within the school we operate a house system.  The pupils in the school are divided into 4 houses – Mackintosh, Bell, Ogilvie and Wallace – all inspirational scots.  Children in the same family will all be in the same house and pupils will remain in the same house throughout their time in St Mark’s.  There are children from P1 – P7 in every house along with teachers and support staff.  This house system is based around the gospel values Love, Faith, Truth, Peace, Community.

The children meet in their house to take part in activities or challenges in many different areas of the curriculum.  P7 and P6 pupils are the house captains and the vice house captains of each house.  The pupils also receive house points these are awarded secretly, no individual child is named.  This helps encourage all children to display appropriate behaviour throughout the school at all times.  Pupils are also given a badge in the colour of their house which we encourage them to leave in school overnight. At the end of the year the house with the most points will have their name engraved on a cup and ribbons in their colour will be tied to it.
