Today saw the first of six peer assessment sessions that will take place throughout all S3 Art & Design classes this week and next. A great opportunity to see all the work that has been produced over the year and this was only half of it! More to follow…. keep up the outstanding w0rk S3! Well done!

Art School Degree Shows

Folio Completion!
The folios are finished and ready to be sent to the SQA. Congratulations to all Intermediate 1, 2 and Higher candidates on completing all the work required. We have posted a few of our favourite pieces, some outstanding work, well worth a look, well done!
P7 Visit
Our final P7 visit took place yesterday with Our Lady of the Mission pupils. More amazing tribal masks were produced – fantastic work P7’s we look forward to seeing you back in August!
GOMA Workshops
Interested in doing something different over the holidays, these workshops might be for you.
Glasgow International Festival of Arts, Teenage Workshops (16-18)
£10 per week of 4 x 2hour sessions
We have arranged two very special workshops suitable for teenagers over the Easter Holidays. These workshops will be run in partnership with practising artists and organisations to give a fantastic opportunity for those attending. Based on the two exhibitions currently in GoMA for the GI Arts Festival the attended will work along side local contemporary artist, develop new skills and produce work at the end of each week long sessions. Each session consist of 4 afternoon workshops, Monday to Thursday, 2pm – 4pm.

‘Collect, Cut, Collage’
Be inspired by Sue Tompkins’s coming to Orzak, Play with words rhythm, repetition, and tempo. Arrange phrases, lyrics, images, combine snatches of materials and media. Compose a series of two dimensional works on paper in a series of workshops led by artist Amy Marletta.

‘Sci-fi print ’
Taking inspiration from the artist Aleksandra Domanovic, create cool designs by layering, cutting and composing. This is a great opportunity to try out some very different creative techniques.

Information Evening – Berlin 2014
Our information evening will take place on Thursday the 15th of May at 7pm in the school lecture theatre. Details along with all paperwork required for the trip should be collected from Miss McCarley in the Art Department. All pupils are asked to collect this before the Easter break.

Shane Connelly has been creating puppet theatre since 2000, including building puppets and performing objects for many UK theatres. Join Shane to explore GI 2014 through the language of puppetry, manipulation and construction.

Join performance poet and dance artist ‘Skye & Skye’ for a unique week of movement, performance, poetry and visual art, inspired by GI artists Michael Smith and Bedwyr Williams. Be prepared to play, investigate and experiment!
