Irish Soda Bread

Miss Gavin was born and raised in a small village in central Ireland.  Irish brown bread or soda bread is a staple of most Irish families diet.
“My mother and grandmothers used to make fresh brown bread every week, when I was growing up. We loved to bring it to school for our lunch. It was always nicest with butter and fresh raspberry jam.”

There are many different types of brown bread in Ireland.  Lots of people use treacle, nuts and seeds to sweeten their bread recipes and make them tastier.  It is a very versatile, easy to make and cheap food.
