Going for the Double – This time a Green Guinness world record

On Christmas morning will you open your 4th copy of the New Diary of a Wimpy Kid? or the 3rd version of some Home Baking show recipe book? Do not despair! The Cli-fi group is at hand to help solve your woes.

Keep a hold of any unwanted ( but good condition) books, both fiction and non fiction and bring them in to school for our “extra special” green GWR day.

On Friday 5th Feb at lunchtime we will be hosting as big a book swap as we possibly can in aid of –

1/ saving the world, and
2/ get ANOTHER Guinness world record

Did you know that on average it take 1Kge of carbon to produce a book.

If you swap your book for another you will help save the environment 2Kge and get yourself a brilliant new something to read and be apart of a Guinness world record attempt – how cool is that?

So bring along as many books as you would like to swap and take part in a fantastic swaptastic guinnesstastic event!

Our Award won an Award

Who?Yes this may be the oddest headline you will see all week.
As you may know Saint Ninian’s took part in an official Guinness World Record attempt at having the most numbers of people writing the same story at the same time. Our attempt was successful and I have the certificate in the library to prove it- come and see it!
Weeeeeelll, our lovely co-ordinater Barbara Band of the School Librarian’s Network thought why not put this achievement up for an award itself?

CILIP – (the library association to mere mortals)has an award each year for the best promotion of our proffession and the GWR attempt won a Bronze Award!.

So that explains the headline.
Perhaps I should get it to sit a Higher next year… hmmm?

Double well done to all those pupils and staff who supported the event and me for co-ordinating the Saint. Ninian’s effort.

Guinness World Record challenge

On Wed 6th Feb the library will be taking part in a Guinness World record attempt at having the most numbers of people writing the same story at the same time. Over 190 schools have signed up to this challenge and we want in that big book.

All you have to do is come along to the library at lunchtime and write the next 2 yes only 2 lines of a story that has been started off by the lovely author Matt Haig.

If you want to see a copy of the start of the story please come and see Mrs. Baird BEFORE the event so that you can get those creative juices flowing.

You do not have to be a budding Shakespeare to take part you only have to be enthusiastic and willing to support your school.

It should be great fun and a story to tell all your friends for years to come. There is also a rumour that some sweeties might be on hand to inspire!

So, there is no excuse not to come along – this includes staff as well as teachers can take part too.

See you there!

I will keep you all posted as to how well we have done…
