Look out for Isobel Mair School on reporting Scotland tonight, 6:30pm as part of the Holocaust Memorial Day to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of Auscwitz-Birkenau.
Today we had a special assembly with invited guests, to help us remember the Holocaust Memorial Day.

A special thank you to Carole Gillespie from Education Scotland who nominated the school for one of the 70 specially commissioned candles.
An extra special thank you to Xander Lovat for lighting the candle in memory of those who lost their lives.

Isobel Mair School is delighted to have been selected as one of 70 locations in the UK to recieve a special memorial candle, designed by renowned sculptor Anish Kappor. This is to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of Auscwitz-Birkenau on 27th January 2015.
All classes will attend a candle lighting event in the Mod on Tuesday afternoon.

We will also have a short farewell to Mrs Wallace, Head Teacher who retires on Friday 19th December.
Tomorrow we are celebrating Christmas Jumper Day.
Wear a Wooly on Friday 12th December to help raise awareness and funds for Save the Children.
All pupils and staff are asked to donate £1 and wear a Christmas Jumper to help support Save the Children.

Today we welcomed Lynda Payne our dance specialist and a group of Cambodian dancers to the school.The group are all part of the Epic Encounters UK Tour.
Epic Encounters is a group of talented dance and theatre performers from Cambodia. Consisting of hearing impaired, disabled and non-disabled performers, they are the first and only fully inclusive dance company in South East Asia.
They worked with pupils from Classes Tiree, Whalsay, Orkney and Shetland. They worked in groups and explored movement exercises to encourage teamwork, develop confidence and inspire creativity. All great fun!

My name is Carol and I am a Habilitation Specialist with Blind Children UK (part of the Guide Dogs Family) covering the West of Scotland. Blind Children UK works together with Guide Dogs to open up the world for children and young people aged 0-25 years with sight loss.
I would like to invite parents of children and young people with sight loss to participate in a short questionnaire on an experiential event at our Hamilton office by completing the enclosed form.
This questionnaire will help to plan an experiential day that will meet the expectations of both the children and young people and their families. Our aim is to extend the knowledge of our Guide Dogs services, while getting involved in some hands-on activities.

Please join us on Tuesday 16th December at Newton Mearn baptist Church for our Christmas service.
Next Friday (14th November) we are participating in the annual Children In Need fundraising event.
This year’s theme is “Be A Hero!”
Pupils are invited to dress up as their favourite hero for the day (This could be a superhero or their favourite idol etc.)
We will be celebrating Children In Need with events throughout the day culminating in a whole school assembly in the afternoon.
Pupils are asked to bring in a minimum of £1 donation for dressing up and taking part in the activities.

Flu Vaccinations will take place for all primary pupils tomorrow, Thursday 6th November.
Tomorrow we will be having halloween themed activities in school, including dancing and party games.
Fancy dress is optional.
Class Jura are all set for their Open Morning.
They have been busy planning and preparing for the event and are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Teenscene this morning.
Please note that vouchers can still be collected in store until the 26th October.
