Sports Relief 2016

sports relief 2016We are participating in Sport Relief 2016 on  Friday 18th March.

All staff and pupils are encouraged to pay £1
to wear something sporty and take part in various activities.

This year we are planning a SPONSORED Sainsbury’s Sport Relief mile (or as far as each pupil can walk)

Sponsored sheets have been sent home to each child and all monies to be sent back to school by Thursday 24th March.

World Book Day

world book dayWe are celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 3rd March. We will also have  a variety of events taking place throughout the week.

We have a storyteller visiting school and will spend some time telling stories with a sensory element.

Our  senior management team have agreed to take part and they will be out storytellers on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The pupils are quite excited about this……….

 

Careers Fair

We are hosting our  Careers Fair  on Tuesday the 15th of March from 10am-12pm.
All of our secondary pupils will be invited and we look forward to welcoming lots of people from the local community into school to talk to the pupils about jobs and careers in different companies and services.

Holidays

Reminder that school  closes at 2.30pm tomorrow and there will be no after school provision.

#Engage Event

Senior pupils had a great day at the NHS #Engage event yesterday.

They had a tour of the exhibition area and managed to see singer Nicholas McDonald. They were delighted to get their photograph taken with him and even persuaded him to sign their programme.

Refugee Crisis – Can you help?

Refugee Crisis

You will all be aware of the plight of refugees mainly from Syria and the efforts many of you have already made to send aid to charitable or aid organisations to support families who now find themselves homeless and in great need of help.  Councillor Waters is
co-ordinating aid to those who are held in refugee camps in Calais and is organising a convoy which leaves on Thursday 29 October.

Items requested are:

  • small torches;
  • double AA batteries for torches
  • tea lights
  • jars and packets of ready to eat baby food
  • warm clothing for men and boys
  • waterproof clothing for men and boys
  • sturdy footwear for men, women and children (all sizes and all ages)
  • camping equipment in working order
  • basic toiletries (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste etc)
  • transportable food (anything non-perishable, e.g. tinned food, rice etc).

If you would like to help, please send in any items to school by Thursday 22 Oct as items will be collected on Friday 23 Oct.
