Save the Children Resource Pack

During school closure, Save the Children have developed a home learning pack (attached) which is aimed at parents with a child aged 3-6 years old.  It contains information on: how to talk about the Coronavirus to children; play based learning activities for children; and information for parents.  It is hoped that this resource will support parents / carers to engage positively with their children and reduce stress levels within the family.

Oor Wullie Photo Competition

To celebrate the end of the Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail, we have been invited to take some pupils from Eaglesham Primary School to the Big Farewell Event at the SECC on Friday 13th September 2019. This will give a group of pupils the chance to see all 60 large sculptures, 143 smaller sculptures (including ours!), take part in a variety of entertainment and receive free goodies on the day. Since places are limited, we have decided to run a competition. If you took part in the Big Bucket Trail and have any photos of yourself with an Oor Wullie statue, please email the photos into the school (SchoolMail@eaglesham.e-renfrew.sch.uk) with the name of the child and class. Entrant names will be chosen at random on Friday 6th September 2019. All photos will be used at assembly and for a display when “Oor Eaglesham Wullie” returns to the school later in September.

SSPCA Competition

Scotland’s animal welfare charity has launched the competition which will be a legacy piece to mark the end of the year-long charity partnership with Scotmid. The competition is aimed at young people aged 16 and under.  The theme is “I love animals” and the Society is asking for designs which show how strong the bond between humans and animals can be.

The mural will be displayed in the Scottish SPCA animal rescue and rehoming centre closest to where the winner/s are located.

The closing date for entries is 31st July and entrants can email their designs to scotmid@scottishspca.org.

Walk to School Week!

Walk to School Week – W/B 23rd October 2017

Dear Parents/Carer,

The Braveheart Walking Bus will be running every day during Walk to School Week! We hope that this will be another successful week of walking. Remember, even if you do not live in the village you can be dropped off at the Eaglesham shops at 8.30am in the morning. If you would like to volunteer to help with a Walking Bus during this week, please contact Mrs Johnston-Smith. A little help really does go a long way in supporting active and safe travel to school.

The Braveheart route is led by teachers who provide high visibility waistcoats for the children to wear ensuring a safe journey to school. The Walking Bus is a great way for children to exercise whilst socialising with their peers.  It encourages all to take an active approach in their own health and well-being.  Please note that the bus will wait at each stop for a maximum of two minutes. It is parents’ responsibility to escort their children to the bus stops.  Please do not leave a child at a stop if the bus has not arrived.  As the bus is run and manned by Eaglesham volunteers, it is classed as ‘informal’.  This means that all children attending the bus remain the responsibility of their parents until they arrive in the school playground.

If your child would like to join a Walking Bus, simply turn up on the day at one of the stops that are detailed below. I look forward to seeing you there!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Johnston-Smith
