THE MUSIC SCHOOL OF DOUGLAS ACADEMY
OPEN EVENING – WEDNESDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2016
The Music School of Douglas Academy, which was established in 1979, offers secondary pupils an opportunity to specialise in appropriate musical disciplines whilst at the same time pursuing their mainstream curriculum.
Pupils attend The Music School from all over Scotland and for those who require to stay in residence, provision is made in Knightswood Secondary School, 60 Knightswood Road, Glasgow, G13 2XD.
An Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 2 November commencing at 7.00pm, to which any interested pupils and their parents are invited. Pupils may be accompanied by their parents/teacher/ instrumental instructor.
Thereafter, applications for session 2017/2018 can be made with a closing date of Monday 30 January 2017. Arrangements will then be made for initial auditions to take place week beginning 27 February 2017, with second auditions being held in March 2017.
I am delighted to advise you that financial support is guaranteed for any pupil who successfully auditions for a place at The Music School. As funding for The Music School is given to East Dunbartonshire Council by the Scottish Government under the government’s Excellence Fund specific grant scheme for Specialist Provision,
it is no longer necessary for pupils to obtain funding from their local authority. Funding will cover specialist tuition fees, residential costs (where necessary).
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr M Evans, Course Director, at The Music School of Douglas Academy, should you require further advice or information (Tel 0141 955 2365).

TREE would just like to say what a wonderful weekend we have spent painting the bus shelter. Your pupils, and their parents turned up and painted with such enthusiasm and concentration.
Our bulb giveaway also proved very successful with over 2000 bulbs, bluebells and daffodils, being handed out for people to plant in specific areas around the village. Looking forward to next spring now! This weekend has certainly lifted our profile in the village! The next event will be The Grand Opening and we will keep you posted on that.
