In maths we have been learning how to read scales. We have to decide how many jumps we are having to do between numbers for example going up in 2s, 5s or 100s.

We have started our new IDL topic which is the Victorians. We spoke about what we wanted to learn about. We were learning about Queen Victoria and working on our notetaking skills.  Did you know she had nine children, forty grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren? She also married her cousin Albert.

We have been working hard on creating presentations about solutions to the plastic pollution in our Oceans. We presented these to the class this week and enjoyed it.

In writing we were continuing a story about a ship that had something dark and mysterious swimming underneath it. We were trying to use our VCOP skills to create an engaging story.

Yesterday we had a French teacher in our class and we got to ask her questions about what school life was like in France. Did you know French children go to school on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8.30am-4.30pm but they have a two hour lunch break! We are very lucky because we have an interactive whiteboard in every classroom but in France they don’t have this. They always have cheese for dessert during their school lunches. It was a great experience getting to meet a teacher from France. After this we wrote a story about what it would be like to live in France.

In PE we have been learning how to pass a rugby ball and catch it correctly. The rugby world cup is happening just now in Japan.

In music we were learning about Tam o Shanter and have started to listen to music along with the poem.

Today we started our skills academy. We enjoyed all of the different experiences. Some of us made: cereal bars, created tables from paper, thought about reduce, reuse, recycle and started to plan plastic bottle pencil cases and others were learning how to use spheros. It has been a busy day!
