Hello Everyone,
Last week we had a lovely day at the People’s Palace on Glasgow Green. We went round the museum that was all about Glasgow’s history.
We spotted many coats of arms. Our whole class fitted into a jail cell where there was a TV that told us all about life in prison. We also saw the cloths that baby’s wore when they were born in prison.
We saw what a kitchen, a bathroom and sleeping area looked like in Glasgow’s old tenement buildings.
We learnt how Glasgow coped with the second world war. There was a bomb shelter that we all went inside. We thought it would be quite scary to spend the night in there while bombs were dropping.
In the museum we also saw a very early fire alarm. It told you to break the glass, push the knob and wait for the brigade. It was much bigger than the fire alarms we have in our school. There was also a picture of the first fire engine in Glasgow.
We saw old telephones, Billy Connelly’s banana boots and we went to the winter Garden. While in the Winter Garden we saw coffee plants, a lemon plant and a lime plant.
At lunchtime we went out into the outdoor gardens and sat eating in the sun.
We had a really great day at the People’s Palace.
