EWHCF Class of 2020

Primary 6 met an Olympian!

On Thursday 16th May we were visited by Kat Thomson, an Olympic short track speed skater. Kat shared her journey in to the sport with us and spoke about the ups and downs of being a competitive athlete. Having been selected for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics she now has her sites set on the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.  We were lucky enough to get to look at some of her training gear from the Olympics as well as hold her Youth Olympic and European Championship medals. After Kat taught us some of her off ice warm up exercises, some of them looked easy but they definitely weren’t! Even Mrs Norman gave them a try. Kat’s visit has helped us with our ‘Primary 6 Guide to a Healthy Lifestyle’ topic and reinforced our Growth Mindset approach.

Thank you Kat for visiting us, we were all very inspired.
