EWHCF Class of 2020

Mrs Watson’s Weekly Blog – 2nd October 2017

Hi all,  I am sorry that this is the first blog post of the year from myself and P5.  We will be updating our blogs weekly – I promise.  This platform is a great chance for us to share everything that goes on in P5b.   We hope you enjoy following our learning journey throughout the year.

It has been a brilliant first term and we are all looking forward to our October break.  It has been very busy to this point and everyone has been working incredibly hard.  Our class assembly was our first main event and it was great to share all our “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” learning with you. Thank you to all who attended.

We are now exploring the natural wonders of the world as a key learning theme.  This has been a super way to apply our reading, writing and talking and listening skills whilst also obtaining new knowledge about our world and its wonders.

As you may know we have also been exploring some fantastic programmes online.  Yammer and Sway are a current hit with the pupils.  Yammer is a monitored and secure social media site and can only be accessed through GLOW.  Pupils can share ideas an information on Yammer through our page Crookfur Class of 2020.   We check in to Yammer regularly and the pupils are very away of how to be responsible on this media site.

I will leave you for now with some images that demonstrate some of the things we have been getting up to.

Mrs W 🙂

Holly was our first star writer of the term. She used incredible wow words and power openers to make her writing excellent.

Here is the second part to Holly’s amazing writing.
Well done Holly 🙂

Some of the pupils created this tower. We measured the tower and then converted the units of measurement 🙂

We have all been practising some really tricky words that many people spell incorrectly. Here is Rory using some fun materials to spell out some common words.

Here is Hugo having fun with spelling. Some words are really hard to spell – we have plenty of opportunities to spell in different ways in P5.

So far this year we have enjoyed many learning experiences. Here are some pupils hard at work.

As a privilege we can choose to be the teacher.
Here is Emily teaching us about volcanoes. It was amazing !
Well done Emily.

Here is Alexander teaching us some rugby skills. We learned to always pass backwards and how important it is to work as a team. He also impressed us with some fancy passing.
We hope to see him on the field at Murrayfield representing Scotland some point in the future !

We love to celebrate all our achievements in P5. well done to Rebecca who completed the reading challenge during summer and collected this medal recently.
Well done you wee superstar 🙂
