EWHCF Class of 2020

P4 are back!

Happy 2017! It has been a long holiday and now we’re all glad to be back at school and ready to work!

This week we have been learning to compare and contrast in language. Comparing is looking for things that are the same (similarities) and contrasting is finding things that are not the same (differences).

Similarities and differences can be displayed in a Venn diagram. A Venn diagram has two circles which overlap. Each circle is labelled for the things you are comparing. Where they overlap you write things which are the same, and in the circle which is not overlapped you write the things which are different.

We were comparing and contrasting the Gruffalo book with the Gruffalo film. We read the story, then watched the film and took notes of similarities and differences. For example, all the main characters in the book were in the film, but at the start of the film there was a family of squirrels that were not in the book.

We really enjoyed this activity and have developed our comparing and contrasting skills, and learnt more about using Venn diagrams.
