EWHCF Class of 2020

Christmas is coming…

This week we have started to look at a French Advent calendar which tells us part of a Christmas story in French each day.

“It is fun because you have to pay attention and spot puffins in the story. We also had to look out for French words that we knew. Il neige means it is snowing.” – Marcel

“It was fun hearing a story in French because usually we hear stories in English.” – Beth

In Maths the cubes have learnt about Roman Numerals. We have learnt that different letters stand for different numbers and instead of using place value like we do, you have to do addition and subtraction to work out the number.

“I thought that it was interesting that a century is 100 years, and in Roman Numerals a C is 100” – Lucy

“I thought it was quite fun because we were given numbers then had to work out how to write them in Roman Numerals.” – Aila

In Science we played a game to learn about how to be safe around electricity. We had to choose a card and see if the scenario on it was dangerous or safe. If it was dangerous, you got an electric shock card. If you got five of these you were out!

“It was really fun, you didn’t know what you were going to get. It was quite tricky because there were lots of dangerous cards” – Iain

“I learned about not using appliances with frayed wires because they can be dangerous.” – Max
