It has been another action packed week for our class.  It was a hard start to the week with our standardised test on Monday.

Standardised Test :

We had our maths test on Monday and we are all pleased that we did our best. It was really tricky and we all think we need to do more work on 2d and 3d shapes and tricky word problems.

PE:

We are on our third week of gymnastics and have learned so much.  Lots of us have made super progress and are doing things now that we didn’t think we could ever do like handsprings over the boxes, controlling our jumps from high blocks, putting our skills other to create a sequence and holding our handstands. Matthew and Amber have really helped us develop our skills as they are confident with lots of the skills we are working towards.

Numeracy:

The Classy Calculators have been working on finding the area and perimeter of shapes like rhombus and kites.  They have also been exploring how these come together within 3d shapes and solving some tricky problems to do with 3D shapes.

The Division Destroyers had a busy week revising place value and different mental maths strategies.  They are also continuing to work on the order of operations – some people like to call this BODMAS.

The Rockin’ Rulercoasters have been solving problems using a formula and exploring how letters can represent words within a formula.  It has been good fun and really made us think carefully.

We also worked on collaborating with one another during problem solving – this was great fun and taught us a lot about how we share ideas with others.

Literacy:

We are almost half way through “The Nowhere Emporium” and have enjoyed analysis the different characters within the story.  We have also created a super wall display that shows key objects and characters within the story.  We have also been thinking about our opinions of the story and why we feel certain ways about different texts.

In writing we are working to create leaflets that provide information about something we are really interested in.  Mrs Watson and Mrs Fry are excited to learn all about things like Fortnite and our favourite Netflix shows.

Tough Mudder:

It was a muddy day today (Friday) as we all took part in our tough mudder to raise money for the activity trail.  It was great fun but really messy.

P5 Assembly:

We loved watching the P5 asssembly and were so impressed with all the information they knew about WW2.

Space:

Today we helped Mrs Watson plan our science learning.  We will be exploring Space and she wanted to know what we were wanting to learn about.  It was really good to think about what we already know and what we want to learn about.

Congratulations:

Well done to George and Jonathan who won achievement awards at our assembly last week.
