Last blog before Lockerbie!

This week in Primary 7 we have been even more excited as we are getting even closer to Lockerbie and High School!

Science teachers came from Eastwood High School and taught us about microbes; we carried out an experiment using bread. We touched one piece of bread with dirty hands, one after washing our hands, and a control piece which we did not touch. We look forward to watching the bread and seeing what happens!

We have also been visited by an English teacher from Eastwood. We got to watch an extract from a movie and had to write down what we could see or hear and what effect it had on the viewer.

This week has also been National Digital Learning Week.

On Monday, PC Trainer visited to teach us about online safety. We did a game with washing line and pegs to see if different statements were true or not for each of us, for example if we had mobile phones. We also worked in groups to decide if different pieces of information were  personal information or not, and learnt that we should not share any information about ourselves with strangers online. PC Trainer showed us a video which demonstrated positive and negative behaviour on social media.

For our Writing, we wrote persuasive letters to Miss Bishop to tell her why we should use phones in school as BYOD is launching this week. For example, we explained that using phones in class will teach pupils to use them responsibly and that they can be used to enhance our learning, for example carrying out research.

On Thursday we had a chance to use the new VR headsets. It was really interesting to see different landscapes and it looked like you were actually there!
