The week beginning 16th March was our annual STEMM week – we added an extra ‘M’ for Medicine! It was a fabulous week with trips to the Snow Zone and the Museum of Rural Life. We showcased our work in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths from the year. We also had parents leading workshops, alongside STEM ambassadors and business partners. The week finished with our STEMM Fayre where parents and families could try out experiments, maths puzzles and engineering problems for themselves. Feedback was highly positive and we hope you learned something new.

On day 2, we had a visit from ‘The Science Boffin’. She developed pupils’ understanding of extreme weather conditions. There were class visits to the library and several classes enjoyed finding out about ‘light graffiti’. Several classes explored the Science behind sport with Lesley, our Active Sports Co-ordinator.
The children enjoyed the first day of the STEM week. Alex the Magician demonstrated the Science behind the magic. P6 pupils used the microscopes to investigate a variety of cells and parents led workshops on DNA and engineering. Everyone is looking forward to day 2!
Next week we are holding our annual STEM week. All the children are looking forward to exploring and experimenting. Our Science Fayre will be on Friday the 28th March from 1.30pm. Please come along and try out some of the workshops for yourself.
