Maths Problem for the Weekend (2)

An old favourite!

A farmer has to carry a fox, a chicken and a sack of corn across a river.  He has a small rowing boat but it can only carry him and one other thing.  If the fox and the chicken are left alone, the fox will eat the chicken.  If the chicken and the corn are left together, the chicken will eat the corn.  How does the farmer get them all across the river?

  1. Take the chicken across and leave there. Go and get the fox. Once fox over take chicken back across to leave there whilst picking up the corn to take over to the fox side. Go back to get the chicken.
